All students are provided with opportunities to enhance their academic studies.

A wide range of extra-curricular opportunities is accessible to all students. Here are some highlights of the subject enrichments offered …

Residential Trips

Our STEM students visit EuroDisney attending lectures & workshops to allow the students to design a rollercoaster.  Our History students travel to the historic city of Berlin visiting landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and the Olympic Stadium.  The Media students visit the city of York, attending short film showings.  The Biology students complete a 3 Day Field Course at Edge Hill University and our Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy students attend a 3 day residential in Grasmere.

Visits

Our Business students visit the International Business Festival at Liverpool Exhibition Centre.  The students hear inspirational speeches from young entrepreneurs, learn how to make a successful pitch and create an idea for a specific target audience. For our Law & Sociology students, a visit to the Royal Court of Justice takes place.  Our Engineering students visit Nice-Pak UK, which involves a health & safety induction and factory tour. They observe a whole host of robots, pick and place machines and automated guided vehicles.   Many subjects offer visits to universities such as attendance at the IOP Lecture for our Physics students at Liverpool University.

Guest Speakers & Careers

Early Years professionals are invited to share their career paths, for example an ex-student visited to share her experience of working in Liverpool Nursery, Kuwait. Professionals from the Ministry of Defence, National Rail and the NHS have also shared their experiences. Our Maths students experience a workshop based on undergraduate level Maths and career progression delivered by The University of Salford.   Our Engineering students attend the Sellafield Recruitment Day, meeting current and ex-apprentices. This year 3 students were successful in securing a summer work experience placement following this visit.

Competitions

Our Physics students enter the Physics Olympiad and The Ogden Trust School Physicist of the Year Award.  Our Cyber Security students participated in the HMG Cyber Schools Programme, being delivered as Cyber Discovery. Biologists enter the Society of Biology Quiz.

Other Enhancement Opportunities

Revision classes are offered in many subjects at either lunchtime, in study periods and / or after college. One to one tutorials with individual teaching staff can be provided. Easter and Half Term Revision School are offered in many subjects.
