Why Study Business?
Cambridge Technicals are vocational qualifications designed with the workplace in mind. The Level 3 qualifications provide a high-quality alternative to A Levels.  This course has been developed to meet the changing needs of the workplace and prepare you for the challenges you will face in Higher Education or employment. You will learn how a business might evolve. You will consider a range of different business types and their objectives. You will look at the internal workings of businesses and how different functional areas work together. You will examine the various external constraints (political, economic, legal, social, technological and ethical factors) which will impact on a business and how they will respond to such changes.  You will also appreciate the influence different stakeholders can have upon a business. You will develop the ability to research, analyse and evaluate information to make decisions and you will have the opportunity to gain these vital skills. You will also develop practical employ-ability skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, and to manage your time effectively.

Why choose The Deanery?

  • You will be taught by a Business Specialist (First Class Business Degree) who is experienced and passionate about the subject and committed to your success.
  • You will be based in a computer room to enable us to undertake regular research to enhance your skills and understanding of the world of business which will help reinforce and contextualise the business theory we learn in the syllabus.
  • This is a popular course at The Deanery, but class sizes remain small to provide personalised learning and support. Your teacher will be very familiar with you and your academic needs and strengths as they will see you almost every day of the two-week timetable.
  • This course allows you to connect the curriculum to real-world applications. With each coursework unit, you’ll analyse a real-life business, exploring its communications, social media presence, website, and core strengths. As part of this course, we will visit some of these businesses, including an annual trip to Wigan Council’s HR Department, where we examine the role and impact of HR on the local Wigan community. Additionally, in Unit 4: Customers and Communication, we’ll look at a real-life community Gym based in The Wirral, analysing its customer base, communication strategies, and opportunities for improving its business model.
  • Some of our students have studied GCSE Business, while others are new to the subject but achieve equally great success
  • This course caters to a variety of learning styles. Unit 1 focusses on theory and memorisation for an external exam, similar to what you will be familiar with at GCSE. In Unit 4, you’ll engage in some creative tasks like designing PowerPoints, posters, and participating in role-plays. Unit 8 emphasises report writing, while Unit 2 has a focus on practical business documentation, such as order forms and cheques.

Our Students Say
“In the two years of studying Business at the Deanery I have learnt so much from Day 1 to the very last Day. It is by far one of the most diverse and interesting courses to study covering a range of different skill sets. I am now going to be studying Bsc (Hons) Business & Management at UCLAN”
