Y6/7 Transition Information

We realise that moving from primary to secondary school is a significant change, and both pupils and parents will inevitably have questions, queries and potential worries about making this step.

Within this section you will find information relevant to your child’s transition, from their current primary school to The Deanery.

A copy of all correspondence that has been sent out via post can be found here, along with other information designed to support both pupils and parents by answering questions you may have. Should you require additional information to that contained here, you can contact the transition team directly with any queries you may have at y67transition@deanery.wigan.sch.uk – where a member of staff will be happy to help.

The summer term would ordinarily be a time when our Transition Programme would be in full swing! The transition team would have been visiting the primary schools of prospective pupils and inviting pupils into The Deanery to allow them to familiarise themselves with the building, meet their form teacher, some of their new classmates and have a taste of what lessons will be like. At the current time this unfortunately isn’t possible, but please be assured that we are constantly reviewing the situation, and looking at alternative ways in which we can help to smooth the transition process.

We look forward to welcoming our new Y7 pupils to The Deanery family, where they will receive an education for life, the opportunity to flourish and to live life to the full!
