Enhancement

In the Lower Sixth students follow an Enhancement Programme each Wednesday afternoon to enrich their skills and experiences. Students are able to select from the following options:

Work Experience

Popular placements are primary schools, charity organisations, and veterinary or medical practices. The work placement can be tailored to suit your chosen career pathway.

You will gain a valuable insight into a particular career and develop associated skills. Each placement is risk assessed before it commences.

The College Programme

A course consisting of 8 units studied on a rotational basis each Wednesday afternoon. Examples of typical units are:

  • Cooking on a budget
  • First aid and health
  • World issues
  • Safe drive
  • Volunteering
  • Unifrog
  • Culture and religion
  • Employability

Extended Project

An independent research based project qualifying for an additional AS award. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is widely recognised by universities and attracts UCAS points. See the additional information sheet and subject stand for more information.

Teachers of Tomorrow

A programme delivered in association with Edge Hill University for students interested in pursuing a teaching career. The programme includes a work placement in an educational setting, taught sessions, and a celebration day held at Edge Hill University.
