Subject: BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Travel and Tourism
Aims of the subject:
To provide pupils with a creative and stimulating learning experience that will give them the confidence and enthusiasm to further their education in travel & tourism and apply their skills and knowledge to the world of travel & tourism employment. This course is the equivalent to half a GCSE qualification.

Assessment Overview:
There are six units which are all internally assessed in Y10 and then another six units in Y11. Are all internally assessed and moderated and may be subject to external standards verification. There are no external examinations for this course currently.

How you can support your child’s progress
- When visiting tourist destinations or travelling within the UK or abroad, encourage your child to observe how products and services are provided in the topic areas as outlined above.
- Encourage your child to meet any assessment deadlines, for which there will be six in Y10 and six in Y11, so this will require effective organisation and time management on their part.
