Applicant Letter Update and Skills Transition 4th May

Letter from the Head of Sixth Form- Supporting Student During the Sixth Form Closure

Applicant Letter Update

Dear Applicant

Further to our communication with you earlier this week we would like to update you. Many of you are
concerned about the upcoming systems involving results, Sixth Form applications and enrolment. We would
like to reassure all pupils that have applied to our Sixth Form, that your offer of a place at the college is
secure. Everybody who has applied is guaranteed a place on one of our course pathways.

We want you to be assured that the combination of courses can be further discussed upon enrolment.
Following the publication of your grades our usual enrolment conversations will take place. At this stage
subject choices will be confirmed. We will update you further regarding enrolment as more information
becomes available about the government’s plans.

Please confirm that you would like to accept your place at the Deanery Sixth Form by emailing Mrs Hampson
shampsond@deanery.wigan.sch.uk by Friday 24th April 2020.

We are pleased to let you know that there are now ‘Bridging Units’ available for download on our Sixth Form
Website at www.deanery.wigan.sch.uk/bridging-units/

These ‘Bridging Units’ are specifically designed to help you make a successful transition from your GCSEs to
your selected Post-16 subjects. Completing these units will give you a good grounding in the subject, and
will clearly be beneficial in making a successful start to your studies at the Deanery Sixth Form in
September.

We will continue to provide further updates over the next few days and weeks, as we aim to keep you as
informed as possible.

Yours faithfully
E. Kirby
Acting Head of Sixth Form
